Man sentenced at Northampton Crown Court for non-recent child sex offences

A 66-year-old man has been sentenced for non-recent child sex offences.
Geoffrey Skinner, of Foxcote Drive, Loughborough (formerly of Northampton) was sentenced in relation to four counts of sexual assault against a child under 13 which happened between 1994 and 1997. The victim was just nine at the time of the first offence.
Skinner was given a custodial sentence of a total of two years for the four counts and will remain on licence for a further 12 months.
On sentencing, the judge spoke of the impact the assaults had on the victim’s life which he said had been blighted as a result. He praised her bravery for coming forward.
The officer who led the investigation, DC Irene Clifton, said:
“This has been a very difficult process for the victim and the family but she feels some satisfaction knowing her voice has now been heard.
“Skinner’s sentencing demonstrates that we take all reports of abuse, no matter how historic, extremely seriously and we will do all we can to bring offenders to justice.
