Police attend Chinese New Year celebrations in Northampton

February 16, 2017

Communities came together in the Market Square, Northampton on Sunday (12 February) to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Rooster.

Chief Constable Simon Edens and the Police & Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold were present along with other dignitaries, including representatives from the Chinese Embassy in London.

Police Community Engagement Officer, Nicos Stephens, was also there giving out crime and fire prevention messages. He said:

“It was a great event with a large crowd despite the wet weather. The face-changing magician from China was the star of the show but there were lots of great performances from traditional Lion dances to a Kung Fu demonstration, singers and dancers.

"Events such as these bring people together and reflect how well the majority of communities interact with each other here in Northampton.”
