Police support Mosque open days in Northampton and Wellingborough

Police and fire officers were among the guests attending mosque open day events earlier this month in Northamptonshire.
Both the Al-Jamaat-ul-Muslimin of Bangladesh Mosque in St George’s Street, Northampton, and Wellingborough Mosque, Islah Ul Muslimeen, in Winstanley Road, held open days for the public on September 9, following on from a national mosque open day event earlier in the year.
The events, which involved speakers, tours and question and answer sessions, attracted visitors from across the community, including representatives from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, Northamptonshire Police community engagement officers DC Rachel Packman and PC Christian Buckenham, and officers from the local neighbourhood policing teams.
In Northampton, visitors also included Northampton North MP Michael Ellis and Deputy Mayor Tony Ansell, while the Wellingborough event was attended by Mayor Paul Bell and Wellingborough councillors.
PC Buckenham said: “Although the mosques are regularly open, these special open days encourage people from the wider community to get in touch. I was happy to be among the visitors at both events and was pleased to see such great turnouts.”
