Domestic Abuse - Free Legal Advice in Northamptonshire
Victims of domestic abuse can receive rapid relief from domestic abuse through a FREE legal helpline (0800 970 2070) which will help to get an injunction against the perpetrator within 24 hours.
The helpline is run by the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV).
NCDV is a charity specialising in helping victims of domestic abuse to obtain non-molestation and other orders (injunctions) from court to protect them from further abuse. Their free service is available to everybody, regardless of age, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
An injunction will prohibit a violent or abusive partner or ex-partner from using or threatening violence from the victim or from pestering or intimidating them. It is a criminal offence to breach a non-molestation order, allowing the Police to arrest the offender immediately.
Feedback from people who have obtained injunctions is very positive indeed, with most noticing an immediate change (for the better) in the offenders' behaviour. It is also often said that by obtaining the injunction, the power has shifted from the abuser to the victim, and that the applicant suddenly feels empowered and at last in control of the situation.
Trained solicitors are on hand with free instant advice 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As well as the emergency line, callers can get help by texting 'NCDV' to 60777.
