Online notification of weapon transfer or change of address

You are required by the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 to notify the Police who issued your Firearms or Shotgun Certificate in writing within seven days of any transaction regarding the acquisition, transfer or disposal of the Firearm or Shotgun.

This form can be used for this notification and to pass the necessary details to the police when you buy, sell, hire, lose, deactivate or have one stolen, or otherwise acquire or dispose of a firearm or shotgun. The form must be submitted to the Firearms Licensing Department within seven days of the transaction.

You are under no obligation to use this form. If you wish, you can send the notification by post or fax.

If the other party to the transfer lives outside Northamptonshire they must also notify within seven days the Chief Constable of the force who issued their certificate.
