At Northamptonshire Police, we’re committed to providing a safe Northamptonshire for every resident in this vibrant county. Focussed on protecting people from harm, we provide a high quality of service to the local community, putting victims at the heart of our work and proactively seeking out ways in which we can challenge and change perpetrator behaviour. Working collaboratively to reduce reoffending and build confidence in our services, we therefore employ the values of being honest, fair, approachable and reliable – standards that we rigorously uphold within our teams – ensuring every member of staff feels valued and fulfilled in their role.
We are currently seeking Constables to join three key teams. With positions based in Crime Investigation (CID), the Force Investigation Unit (FIT) and the Managed Appointment Unit (MAU) these diverse and rewarding opportunities will prove a fantastic challenge for individuals who are passionate about providing a value-for-money policing service.
Within CID, you will deal with a wide range of complex crime including serious sexual, violence and property related offences. From first report through to prosecution, you will put the victims at the centre of your investigations. In our new FIT team, you will take on the investigation of crimes that would previously have been dealt with by Response or Neighbourhood officers, with more time to focus on your core role. In MAU you will attend and resolve managed appointments and conduct quality initial investigations into reports of crimes.
Of course, there’s more to life than work. But within our ranks you’ll find friendly and supportive colleagues, plus positive working relationships with other forces and emergency services. And based just an hour from London and Birmingham with an enviable lifestyle that includes affordable housing, a good social and cultural life, architectural gems such as Delapre Abbey and unspoilt countryside on your doorstep, we can’t think of a better place in which to live and work.
So if you’re ready to take the next step in your career and you have completed your probationary period as a Constable, then we’d be delighted to discuss your transfer options. To thrive in all three teams, you will need to share our values of honesty, fairness, reliability and approachability, and be willing to conduct yourself by our Code of Ethics. With good communication skills and a team-player attitude, you will also be able to apply initiative and make reasoned decisions in complex situations. You’ll also be aware of equality and diversity issues, and be proactive in ensuring these are at the heart of your daily interactions.
Please note, in addition to interviews you will be required to pass vetting, substance misuse checks, fitness and medical tests and have satisfactory references.
