Members of Pearls of Peace and Northamptonshire Police’s community engagement team have been helping to raise awareness of Ramadan and promote community cohesion.
Volunteers in Northampton’s Market Square handed out small pots of dates and information on Ramadan last week.
Ramadan sees Muslims take part in a period of daily fasting. This year it runs from Friday, May, 26 to Saturday, June 24.
Chief Inspector Lara Alexander-Lloyd said: ‘It was great to see Pearls of Peace celebrating Ramadan and the meaning of it in Northampton town centre.
“It’s such a positive step that the communities of Northamptonshire are coming together to support each other and promote understanding of different beliefs.”
Pearls Of Peace is a women’s development group led by Muslim women to promote peace, respect and understanding.
