Six knives and three Samurai swords were handed in at a knife amnesty event in Thorplands, Northampton, last Friday (24 Nov), when people were given the opportunity to hand in knives and other potential weapons anonymously.
The event was held at the shops in Farmfield Court, between 4.30pm and 6pm, as part of ongoing policing activity in the area.
Organiser PC Tom Hill, from the local neighbourhood policing team, said: “The event resulted in nine potentially dangerous items being removed from the streets and supports the ongoing community and proactive policing in the area.
"The amnesty event achieved a positive result and the community welcomed our presence.
“If you know of anyone who carries a knife, you can report it to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
